Conference on Return Migration in Asia: Experiences, Ideologies and Politics will be held on 31/07/2008 - 01/08/2008 at the National University of Singapore, Asia Research Institute.

Among more than 60 presentations that speak to the theme of Return Migration in Asia, there will be several papers concerning the Japan-Brazil "return migration".

This is the map of the distribution of the 100 most recent visitors to the CENB website as of July 4, 2008 (10:10 am). Most of the visitors are from Brazil and Japan, but we also have frequent visitors from the U.S. and the European countries. There are also occasional accesses from the Latin American and Asian countries.

Despite the fact that the website is mainly written in Japanese, it seems that there are a good number of people interested in the acitivities of the CENB.

I will try my best to include more contents in Portuguese and English. Any suggestions from the viewers will be appreciated.

Lançamento do Livro: Uma Diáspora Descontente

No dia 22 de Julho (terça-feira), terá o lançamento do novo livro, Uma Diáspora Descontente: Os nipo-brasileiros e os significados da militância étnica 1960-1980, por Professor Jeffrey Lesser (Emory University).

É a versão portuguesa do livro, A Discontented Diaspora: Japanese-Brazilians and the Meanings of Ethnic Militancy, publicado em inglês, em 2007, por Duke University Press.

O Livro, publicado pela Editora Paz e Terra, será lançado às 19 hrs na Livraria Cultura, no Conjunto Nacional, Av. Paulista.

現在、日系移民に関心を持つ若い研究者が数多くサンパウロに滞在、人文研・移民史料館を訪問しています。

この数週間ほどの期間にも長崎シーボルト大学、奈良大学、大阪大学、明治大学、上智大学、サンパウロ大学、ワシントン大学、ハーバード大学、ニューヨーク大学、ハートウィック大学などから研究者が集っています。

また、日本・ブラジルからのマスコミ関係者の訪問も多数ありました。

人文研は資料の紹介・提供、面接調査への対応、図書室の提供などの便宜供与を行っています。
